چکیده
Composite Plate Shear Walls−Concrete Filled (C-PSW/CF) are an innovative seismic force resisting system recently adapted for building applications. The walls consist of parallel steel faceplates connected with tie bars and filled concrete. This paper summarizes the results a recent FEMA P695 study completed to verify design parameters uncoupled C-PSW/CFs rectangular flange plate boundary elements. Seven archetype structures were: (i) designed, (ii) modeled using benchmarked fiber-based finite element analysis approach, (iii) subjected nonlinear pushover analysis, (iv) incremental dynamic failure 22-sets scaled ground motions, (v) were statistically analyzed assess performance. These ranged from three (3) twenty-two (22) stories included both planar C-shaped configurations. As part this process, recommendations stiffness approximations linear developed. Additionally, these post-processed determine rotation strain demands at base basis, maximum considered, level earthquakes. showed that demand earthquakes comparable regardless motion. Ultimately, approach verified R factor 6.5, Cd 5.5, Ω0 2.5

Seismic Performance of Steel Plate-Reinforced Concrete Composite Shear Wall
In tall buildings the reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall is one of the predominant structural components used to resist lateral loads induced by earthquakes around the world. Previous research demonstrated that shear walls displayed a sudden loss in lateral capacity due to the wall corner and web crushing in the plastic zone. In addition, it was found that large shear distortions in shear wall...
متن کاملComparison of plasticity and stiffness of steel shear walls with composite steel plate shear wall
The steel shear wall and composite steel plate shear wall is introduced in recent three decade and is considered and is spread rapidly. Composite steel plate shear wall which is made of a layer of thin steel sheet with coating of reinforced concrete in one or both sides of steel palate is considered a third generation of resistance shear walls against lateral loads that in addition to increasin...
متن کاملSeismic design of boundary frame members of steel plate shear walls
Steel Plate Shear Walls (SPSWs), which consist of infill steel panels surrounded by columns, called Vertical Boundary Elements (VBEs), and beams, called Horizontal Boundary Elements (HBEs), are rapidly becoming an appealing alternative lateral force resisting system for building structures in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan and other countries. This paper presents results of so...
متن کاملSeismic Behavior of Intermediate Beams in Steel Plate Shear Walls
This paper presents some preliminary results of an ongoing research whose objective is to investigate the seismic behavior of intermediate beams (i.e., the beams other than those at the roof and foundation levels) in multi-story steel plate shear walls (SPSWs). Of primary interest is the determination of the strength level needed to avoid the formation of in-span plastic hinges, a relevant prac...
متن کاملductility-based seismic design of steel plate shear walls: practical application using standard sections
over the past decade of extensive research works, the thin un-stiffened steel plate shear wall(spsw) has now emerged as a promising lateral load resisting system. considering thedemand of performance-based seismic design (pbsd) philosophy in current and futureseismic design codes, a ductility-based design was recently proposed for spsw systems withpin-connected boundary beams. however, the effe...
